I'm sorry, but how are your figures of your own wealth helping to back your idea of average wealth? It seems odd that you would post a 45mil wealth and suggest such a low average.

Im a month behind retail day one, pretty active throughout, and I've never seen over 200k in storage. I think the most I have ever had is 130K. The highest total wealth I had at one time was when I went on an AB binge on an event weekend years ago and got Elite Kurz armor. over 100 Ambers and a couple ectos were in storage along with about 80K.

Otherwise all my wealth is in constant movement. Anytime I get close to 70K it just means its time to spend it. Of course if I liquidated everything for what I purchased it for it's be in the 7 digits, I'm sure. 8 elite sets across 3 characters and everything is either all white or black...

Must be off because, in my knowledge and my social circles in GW, most 2+yrs players had been away from GW for at least several months, even some may come back.

Speaking of my self, 73 months and I have been off several times, a couple months each for other reasons or games. And since the introduction of HoM reward calculator, I have seen even more player leaving or pausing GW after filling HoM up.

So, I'm pretty sure those numbers u posted are overestimating things.

Preposterous. No way the average player has ten stacks of ectos (or even the equivalent in stuff after spending on titles) today.

20,000,000 / 100,000 X 12.5 = 2500 globs at present rates. I'm not buying that for a second.

I consider myself a slightly more-than-average player... Been playing for a long time (just a few months after prophecies' release), know a lot about the game but never got much into higher-end content until lately. I've always seemed to hover right under 100k + armor sets and rare weapons on 2-3 chars.

Nothing too amazing, but I can't complain either.

I could make that in a couple days by farming and I have been playing for 5 years, not trying to boast.. anyone can do it. I would say at least half a mill.

At this point I don't even have anything to spend on except for rare collector items.

edit; Then again, I only pve with my assassin so I can understand how people blow all their money on buying armor/weapon sets for multiple characters.

Working in the community of Guild Wars, I would say the average player at the moment has at least 4-5 sets of Elite armor on 2-3 characters on their account. They might have 2-3 rare weapons and around 200k-300k in the bank. Most would have around 15-20 ectos on their account pending on whether they are saving up for Obsidian.

With the influx of Zkeys on the market, I think this has significantly helped a majority of players get "Richer" as far as the game goes.

I have been playing 6+ years and I have at least 1-2 sets of Elite armor on 24 characters ( Over 2 accounts)

2 Sets of Obsidian, Chaos gloves on a few. I don't have that many rare minipets, but I have a variety of rare weapons. (Most of this is attributed to PvP participation...not PvE) I probably would have more on my account...but I usually give most of my stuff away :P

I find that there are a ton of players giving away more items ingame more than ever to newer players or players who need help with their Hall of Monuments.

Definately think this is a good average range..esp when you take in armors, wpns, consumables, and all kinda of items laying around on mules and multiple acnts.

I'd call myself pretty average as far as playing time and style is concerned, but I'm a bit smarter financially than your average bear, and I have done some farming over time and other sorts of "accelerated income generation" methods.

I'd estimate my total wealth across all accounts including armors, weapons, vanity items, minis, etc., to be between $5-10M. My main account has a full HoM plus lots of extra armors, and my second account has several elite armors plus over a million in cash and assets.

I'd guess I'm in the top 10-15% of players wealth-wise, and $1M is probably a good cutoff for the 25th percentile. Top 50% I would guess is somewhere around $300k and above. Most people have an elite armor or two and maybe a mid-range mini or weapon.

Me too. When I calculated roughly, I arrived at around 11-12 million for myself, and I've been playing for about 5 years. I'm a semi-casual player, and I don't power trade or speed clear, I mostly farm by myself.

I'm starting to think (or prolly I knew already) nobody on this forum is into the average/casual category. Even more the ones who care to answer to such topics. I mean, if you follow a fanforum you're already kind of an addicted to the game, while I think the basic average player only plays once in a while and has no interest of being part of an outer game community, safe for maybe asking for help, advice or trading; not the riverside kind imho. Just sayin'.

Have a quick look on baltha... just noticed I have 16M baltha ...
take luxon/kurzick pts @ amber rate.... goes up really fast

How much wealth do you think the average player has?
==> should be: How much money you earned IG?
cause I bought some weapons 100k, they cost 1k now.
Some pets were 100k (random), now 100a....

Calculated, if I add up all the money I have currently, including armors etc (not weapons that I bought from players), and HoM shit (tormy weaps) I would come up around 6,000 ecto I think.

If I would calculate EVERYTHING I've ever earned that has gone into consumables/Zchest/Lockpicks and that shit, I'm gonna come up with a way higher number though. All the consumables alone would be another ~5,000e easily, without even trying, then Zchest and that shit.... I've probably earned about 12,000-13,000 ecto over a period of 5 years. But 95% of that number is starting from August 2010 though.

Not saying that this is average, but I know quite a lot of people (pretty much everyone in the 'high-end' SC community that have been there for over a year) that have similar, or higher numbers.

Yep, that's also what I posted earlier.

IMO the *average player* plays through each campaign once (normal mode), if that - and after that he/she puts the game aside, maybe occasionally checks back for events and stuff. You really don't need to accumulate any wealth for that. Similarly, you won't see these players showing off their stuff or spamming trade in kamadan because they're not playing much... if at all.
The HOM->GW2 thing is shaking things up a bit, but even then only two of my guildies logged in to get some points (as we are all launch vets, getting some low-hanging-fruit points would be pretty easy)

There are also probably a lot of players who picked GW up in 2005, got like 3 missions into post-searing and gave it up, not buying any expansions for it either... and that number may be surprisingly big.

In cash ~100k to 500k
In total ~250k to 1million

Easy enough to make just playing the game and selling drops. Granted towards the end of the games life most common drops had little value, but rare drops had a higher value.

Playing 1 to 3 hours a day with good basic knowledge of the game (not a total nub)

Average high end trader ~5million in cash & items

not to be OT but:

I've always felt that the true payer base was around 1 mil, regardless of the "units sold" amount. I found it interesting that they got the 1 mil for the beta test after 2 days and a little, but I also know of a few people that signed up with multiple email addresses.

So unless those got automatically excluded I believe there is quite a few less than a true 1 mil sign up.

Here's my interpretation of the "average player" question:

How much accumulation does that random person have, standing around in that random town, that you see over there?

In order for this to be the case, they must have logged in. Players that have logged in after 3 years, including those who took several months of breaks all the way up to high-end pvp and pve buffs (yes, "average" accounts for the whole spectrum). . .

I'm going to guess along with Malibu Barbie at around 1-2 million overall, including everything spent on titles, armor, rare shinies, and rare materials.

[I am a 3 year veteran, though I've played more than twice that 15-20 hours per week average benchmark, and I'm going to guess my worth in at about 7-8+ million by various farming, speed clears, buying for my HoM, getting the titles ziashen/wisdom/treasure, PvP, etc. I also see most of the guild roster log in more than once a week, but a large number going 2-3 weeks offline regardless of whether they're rich or poor (I pay attention because I'm a leader). Average, I'd say, earns roughly 20% of what I do as a moderately-high-end.]

The average overall would be less than 1 million gold. The majority of players absolutely could careless about the HoM and titles. A huge amount of players just quit after the 3 campaigns.

Guild wars was marketed as a skill based grind free game huge amounts of players never made it to the farming phase or beyond a little casual pvp. I agree with every person posting here isn't casual.

I can't use myself as a comparison as I fall into the super obsessed and elite of the money category since my favorite thing is farming and has been since release. I've spent almost a stack of armbraces on q8 bows in the last month so I think a better question would be whats the average of the hardcore players aka the guru crowd.

I've earned about 340-350million in approximately 2.5 years. Although uncommon, I'm sure there are a decent number out there with similiar or better figures that will drag the average much higher.

I would probably guess the average would be maybe 4-5 million for Active players (people with at least 2000+ hours on there account)
